Hair Extensions at Hair Ministry, Ipswich

Ipswich Hair Extensions Specialists – Hair Ministry

Hair extensions are a fantastic way to add not just length but volume to your natural hair.  Choosing the right hair extensions for you and your lifestyle requires a bit of research. Let our expert team of hair extension specialists in Ipswich talk you through the hair extensions at Hair Ministry and why we recommend our hair extension fixing methods.

Individual Micro Ring and Nano Ring Hair Extensions

Deluxe Volume Grade “AAAA” Indian Remy human hair extensions are available in 18″ and “20”. Each extension weighs 0.8g per strand giving that extra thickness to create volumising and natural looks. Approximately 75-100 strands are needed for a half head and 175-200 strands for a full head, this can vary depending on the style you are wanting to create and the thickness and density of the natural hair.

Hair extensions are as individual as you are.  One thing we are committed to at Hair Ministry is recommending hair extensions based on a personal one to one consultation.  This free, no obligation hair extensions consultation will allow your Hair Ministry hairdresser to chat a little more about you, your personality and your lifestyle.  We will show you the look and feel of the hair quality and discuss the perfect length and hair colour for you.  You might think you want your hair extensions ultra long but if your busy lifestyle won’t allow the time necessary to style and maintain the hair extensions, it’s more cost effective to be fitted for hair extensions in a shorter length that will be manageable for you.  Owing to different hair extension lengths, thickness and numbers required, prices for hair extensions at Hair Ministry, Ipswich are on consultation.

Book your personal one to one consultation with the hair extension hairdressers in Ipswich at Hair Ministry, and let us create the perfect hair extensions solution for you.

Micro Ring Maintenance & Aftercare

Micro Ring hair extensions will require tightening after a few months.

After installation of your hair we advise the use of recommended aftercare products  by the stylist which have been formulated to restore the natural hair and at the same time condition the hair extensions, which results in optimum conditioning for both your natural hair and the 100% Human Hair Extensions. We do not recommend colouring, tinting or perming the extension hair as these types of products contain elements that can damage the extension hair and even though our extensions are 100% human hair, they are not receiving nutrients from the scalp like your own natural hair.

The more heat you use on the hair extension the shorter the life span of the hair, treat your extensions with the same respect as you would with you own natural hair, superior aftercare and regular maintenance will keep your hair feeling and looking great for longer.

After the installation of your hair extensions do not wash your hair for at least 2-3 days, use a dry shampoo such as “Batiste” on any oily root areas as this allows the bonds to fully harden, the longer you wait, the better it is for the longevity of the bonds. Tie your hair back in a loose ponytail or plait using a soft scrunchie for bed. Never wear your extensions for longer than 3 months continuously as during this time your hair will have grown by approx 1.5 inches, the roots of your hair often start to tangle together if you have not separated the bonds correctly and therefore it is not healthy for the hair if left.

The first thing you may notice after your hair extension installation is that for a few days your scalp may feel tender and sore, this is normal and will pass and not a sign of a problem but just the added weight of the extension hair, if this does persist for longer than a few days this could be a result of the extensions been fitted too tightly in which case you would need to get this checked. In the first few weeks you may lose the odd extension or possibly experience some shedding while the extensions are settling down, but this is completely normal and will settle down.

Please Note: – Lighter Shades have a bleach content therefore will not last as long in life span as non-bleached hair. The lighter shades will need extra care and less heat application to increase the lifespan this also applies to shades in the crazy colour shades as they are more prone to fading than other shades as they are done on to a bleach base.

Your extension hair should only be washed between 2-3 times per week.

Before washing it is advised to detangle your extension hair with a wide tooth comb and separate the bonds.

It is essential you only use shampoo and conditioner that is designed for hair extension use.

When washing your hair, do not tip your head over the bath as this could cause tangling – always wash with your head upright – in the shower is ideal. Smooth the shampoo down the extension hair – do not rub vigorously! Only condition from the mid lengths down to the ends of the hair. Do not apply any conditioner to the bonds as this will cause slippage.

You can pick the top section of your own hair up and apply condition to this section. Pat hair gently when washed – do not rub.

Before detangling we advise you to use a leave in conditioning spray. Follow by detangling with a wide tooth comb, making sure you avoid the bonds. Make sure all bonds are dried completely. Be very careful when brushing the hair when wet, make sure you support the extensions hair by holding the bonds.

For a sleek finish, section your hair off and blow dry using a round brush with soft bristles. Be very careful that you do not snag the bonds. Finish by using a good quality straightening iron.

Heated Rollers, Straightening Irons, crimpers and tongs can all be used on the extension hair although it is advisable to use a Heat Protection Spray to protect the both your hair and the extension hair. Serums, gels, hairsprays, etc. may all be used but avoid the bonded areas as this may cause slippage.

Remember your extensions are attached to your own natural hair, pulling too hard or mistreating your extensions can result in your own hair being pulled out. The only brush you should use near to your extension bonds is an extension brush – this brush has soft loop bristles and a cushioned bristle base, meaning the brush gently glides over the bonds. When brushing the extensions always hold the bonds, making sure no additional stress is put on the hair.

Day to Day Activities

If you use a sun bed it is advisable to wrap the hair in a towel first. Sun beds can dry out the hair and melt the bonds. If you work out regularly or have regular use of a sauna or steam room make sure the bonds are completely dried as soon as possible after your session – leaving the bonds in a constant damp environment could cause them to deteriorate.

We do not advise getting Hair Extensions if you are pregnant or for one year after having a baby.

Swimming & Holidays

We do not advise that you swim when wearing extensions as prolonged water exposure especially with chemicals may weaken the bonds. Chlorine in pools and salt in the sea combined with heat can also cause the extension hair to discolour, deteriorate in condition and matt.

If you do swim we recommend you take the following precautions:

Place your extensions into a braid using a covered band.

Avoid getting the extension hair wet where possible.

Immediately after swimming, rinse hair in fresh water thoroughly.

Ensure the hair is tangle free by combing through with a wide tooth comb, separating and supporting the extension hair as you work through the sections.

DO NOT brush the extension hair when wet.

Dry hair fully and use a hair extension protein spray.

  1. Hi,

I already have a weave however it is looking a little tatty at the moment, All I want is for it to be trimmed. I dont want anything fancy done, I just literally want a dry trim so that my weave is in better condition. I would presume that this would be the same price as a normal trim. With the weave, my hair is just past shoulder length. Would you be able to give me a quote for this?

    Thanks a lot,

    Kirsty McGill
