The Hair Ministry Hair Colour Consultation
You’ve saved the pic of your favourite celebrity hair colour, you’ve seen a fashion hair colour in a magazine, you’ve seen an inspiring hair colour on Hair Ministry’s Facebook page… but is it the right colour for you as an individual?
The first step in the Hair Ministry hair colour process is the one to one consultation. One of our hair colour technicians will chat to you about your lifestyle, your personality, your current hair habits and assess your hair. This is a chance to tell your stylist which hair colours you like and also for your Hair Ministry colour expert to offer their advice on shades, tones and techniques that will really compliment you as an individual and enhance your features. Example colours can be shown and the hair colour process explained. You may need your hair pre-lightening or you may have some colour correction issues that can be explored and explained during this consultation.
Hair Ministry Hair Colour Application
Once you and your Hair Ministry colour technician have agreed on a desired hair colour or effect, the hair colour process can begin! There are many techniques available to professional hairdressers to colour the hair. Hair Ministry is always on the forefront of new methods and techniques, new colours and suppliers to ensure that you, our client, receives the very best in hair colour. Depending on your circumstances there are many techniques including;
Highlights and Lowlights
Highlighting or lowlighting hair using foils is often regarded as one of the most natural looking hair colour techniques. The use of multiple colours and shades, applied to a few strands of hair at a time creates a multi tonal three dimensional hair colour. Highlights are perfect for creating those sun kissed hues, honey blondes and ash blonde colours. Lowlights really add depth to hair colour and can be used to create some subtle but striking hair colours.
Highlights and lowlights can be applied using foils. Strips of foil in varying lengths and widths are used as a framework for individual strands of hair to be placed onto the foils and the hair colour applied. A varying number of foils can be used and are usually broken down as follows:
Full Head Foils – foil hi-lites or low-lites are placed throughout the whole head of hair. This is perfect for those who want all over even hair colour coverage and also for those who wear their hair in upstyles regularly. So, if you’re a gym bunny or someone who wears their hair up for work you might want to consider full head foil highlights or lowlights so that the hair colour is uniform all over.
Half Head Foils – foil high lights or low lights are placed generally around the crown area covering half the head. This will leave either your natural colour underneath or an all over tint. Half head foil highlights or lowlights is the most popular choice when it comes to foil highlights.
Partial Foils – usually this is up to 8 foil highlights or lowlights placed in the hair. Typically concentrated in one area like the fringe or a popular choice for men’s hair colour. Partial foils can be used to create some dramatic colour injections in specific areas.
All Over Hair Colour – Colouring Grey Hair
All over hair colours are perfect for those wanting a single hair colour covering all of the hair. It is also the best way to colour and cover grey hair. This doesn’t necessarily have to mean permanent hair dyes, as semi permanent hair dyes and toners can also produce some fantastic results when it comes to hair colour coverage. At Hair Ministry we primarily use Goldwell hair colours to create some revolutionary colour combinations and results.
All Over Hair Colour – Don’t Try This At Home!
Many people think hair colour is easy to recreate at home and can be done using boxed colours. Be warned, whilst attempting to colour your hair at home you can cause costly damage to your hair by overlapping colour and causing noticeable bands of hair colour to appear. Even all-over colour should always be recreated in a professional salon for the best possible results.
We’ve all seen the rows and rows hair colours in a box in the supermarket or at the chemist, and whilst the initial investment into a boxed colour may be little, what happens when that hair colour goes wrong?
Hair Colour Correction at Hair Ministry
So you’ve had a hair dye disaster that’s causing upset and panic. First thing is first – DO NOT DYE OVER YOUR HAIR! We see this time and time again where a client has home dyed their hair, it’s gone wrong, they panic and then think that dyeing over the problem hair colour will rectify it. In most cases this never happens and you’re left with an even bigger hair colour problem that could prove costly.
Before you reach for another bottle of hair dye, call us here at Hair Ministry, remain calm and book in for a quick consultation. We can provide the tea, sympathy and fully assess your hair and the problem areas. We will give you a solution on how to rectify and restore the hair colour and let you know how much it will be. It’s so important that when hair colour goes wrong you seek professional advice immediately.
Remember, don’t try this at home! Our colour technicians at Hair Ministry have spent years dedicated to training and implementing their hair colour skills so don’t risk your locks and let us take care of your hair.
Of course, it isn’t just mad panic hair dye disasters that we deal with here at Hair Ministry, everyday hair colour correction problems are rectified by our team on a daily basis. Other hair colour correction problems could include:
- Highlights that are too orange in colour
- Over – bleached hair that needs some TLC
- Bands of hair colour that have overlapped causing varying degrees of colour through the hair
- Patchy hair colour (especially round the back of the head which cannot be easily reached)
- Damaged hair from over colouring
Remember, the moral of the story when it comes to vibrant, show stopping hair colour is that it cannot be boxed and you attempt it at home at your own risk!
Root Regrowth and Re-Colouring Hair
Whether you’ve opted for highlights, lowlights or an all over hair colour at Hair Ministry we recommend a root regrowth touch up every 6 weeks to ensure that your hair colour is maintained and your hair remains in optimum condition. Leaving roots to grow for too long between colours can make the hair look lifeless and dull. Maintaning regular appointments at Hair Ministry will keep your hair looking full of colour, depth and vibrancy. We have a full range of professional shampoo and conditioning products that really do help to lock in your brand new hair colour in between appointments.
